Why I will continue to “Jet Set”

I was recently triggered by a comment that was intended to be harmless: “Must be nice to do all this travelling; how do you find the time for real estate?”

My initial reaction was to get defensive, which quickly spiraled into a reflection on perception. If one person thinks this, how many others might? Cue the monkey mind: “Are peoplxe not choosing me as their realtor because I’m perceived as a ‘jet-setter’? Will they wonder if I’m really there for them?”

But after telling my ego and monkey mind to calm down and take a seat, it all boils down to three things for me:

  1. Travel opens my mind to new perspectives, allowing me to bring fresh ideas to my clients and colleagues.
  1. Stepping outside my comfort zone strengthens my character, drive, and determination.
  1. Expanding my network creates opportunities that ultimately benefit those around me.

So, yes—I will continue to travel.

I will keep putting myself in rooms with people who challenge me to grow.

I will surround myself with colleagues who support me as much as I support them.

And I will always show up for the clients I’m aligned with, who know that no matter how far I may be—I’ve got their back.
