Throughout my real estate career, I’ve attended dozens of conferences. The reason? To put myself in rooms with some of the industry’s best business minds. If you’re not learning, you’re staying the same—and complacency is my kryptonite.
Sitting in the audience (always in the front row, if possible), I would visualize myself on the stage—sharing what has worked for me and what hasn’t as I built my real estate business from the ground up.
My desire to be on that stage was driven by the hope of reaching even just a few people with the message to keep going, even when you feel like quitting. The moment you start seeing real estate as a business, not just a job, is when true growth begins. But that growth actually stems from mindset before anything else.
On September 26, I had the honor of being asked to step onto the main stage at the BUZZ Conference, where I spoke alongside four other real estate professionals on the topic of “Change vs. Consistency: The Dual Drivers of Real Estate Success.” We explored when to embrace change to stay ahead of market trends, and when to rely on consistent practices that build trust and long-term success. We discussed strategies for mastering both, ensuring that our businesses not only survive but thrive in any market conditions.
I shared my strong belief about the importance of mindset. If your mindset isn’t right, you can’t expect to truly ‘show up’ for yourself, your clients, or your colleagues. It’s easy to fall into the “blame game”—blaming the market, the government, other people, the economy, and even the weather. But what if you took a hard look at the person in the mirror and asked, “How am I showing up? What actions am I taking—or not taking? How can I do better and be better?” These are tough questions, but when answered honestly, they can be game changers that set your career on a new trajectory.
This is just the beginning. I know there will be more opportunities for me to share my journey with others, in the hope of inspiring even a few people—just as I have been consistently inspired by several world-class speakers with a message to share, simply because they care. They care about showing up as their best selves and encouraging others to do the same. Imagine the world we would live in if we all focused on being our best for the greater good.
