Interviewee: Heather Leonard, Owner & Operator, Ron Henry Jewellers

Q: How long has Ron Jewellers been a part of the Huntsville community?

Ron Henry Jewellers opened its doors in 1971, and recently just celebrated 51 years in business!

Current owner and operator, Heather Leonard started working at the store’s downtown location in 1979 as a part-time student. In 1986 she decided to jump on the opportunity to buy into the business, which was planning on opening a second location at the then-newly built mall. After 15 years, the downtown location closed and Leonard bought the business outright from Ron Henry. Today, the store continues to proudly serve generations of local clients and cottagers.

Q: What services and types of jewellery does the store offer?

The store is a full-service jewellery store, selling diamonds, precious metals and gemstones including cultured, freshwater and exotic Tahitian pearls. They also have an extensive collection of trending silver jewellery and two different watch lines. Along with selling beautiful jewellery, the store also offers jewellery and watch repairs

Q: You offer custom jewellery design, can you tell us more about that?

Custom jewellery is a big part of Ron Henry’s business. If you can dream it, they can make it. The talented team will schedule an appointment necessary for this service, and provide sketches and style photos for approval.

Q: What does the community mean to this well-established Muskoka business?

Leonard was born and raised in Huntsville, noting that the town has changed tremendously over the years, but what hasn’t changed is the close-knit community. Leonard is very fortunate to operate Ron Henry in such a wonderful community and is excited to see it continue to grow.

Q: What are some of your favourite things to do in the Muskoka region?

“We are truly living the dream here in Muskoka,” says Leonard. “Winter brings on a whole new set of activities – a few of my favourites are snowmobiling, skiing, and snowshoeing. Overall spending time in nature restores the soul!”
